I can't help but notice each time I do my grocery shopping that prices keep increasing and I doubt many people's wages are coming anywhere close to keeping up. It's just my opinion, but to my mind there are way more important things to spend money on than custom content for a video game. If you have money to spare and would consider donating it to BogSims I'd like to make what I feel is a much better recommendation. Please, buy food, toiletries and clothing and donate them to a local soup kitchen or homeless shelter or save your cash and when Christmas rolls around do a little shopping for gifts to donate to programs like Toys for Tots or your local Salvation Army. It's pretty easy when we sit in our comfy homes playing our games to forget there are people in our own communities without the means to meet even basic needs.

Several months ago I saw even more that the costs for basic living expenses were closing in the race to overtake our income so I decided it was time to cut expenses. I actually considered for about a nano-second, closing BogSims but the problem is that a few years ago we discovered that we really enjoy making custom content for our Sims game and some of it gets to be pretty time-consuming so it seemed like a waste to spend all that time making something for only a few people to enjoy so we opened BogSims Institute for sharing our creations with others. Sure, we could close and upload to other sites that accept from community creators but none of us were keen on that idea, partly because we enjoy playing around with the website and because we wouldn't feel right about uploading to someone else's website without giving them money every month to help cover hosting so it was decided to keep BogSims open. For years we ran BogSims on a sub-domain of Syera's site, Springhole which worked out pretty well but when we signed up with our new host we got a couple of free domain registrations so we decided to use one of them to give BogSims its own home.

During the decision-making process we also decided to try putting ads on our site to help pay the hosting bill. I've been very happy with the results and I would highly recommend to any site owner who is looking to keep their site free but could use a bit of help with hosting fees to consider this as well. As I said earlier, I really feel like there are many more important things in life than paying for custom content for a video game, so please everyone, save your money and put it where it could really do people some good. :-) Shoot, if you and manage to take in a little extra you can even donate that to a worthy cause as well.
